MBB to Host Purdue in ACC/Big Ten Challenge

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s basketball team will play Purdue at the Watsco Center in the 2020 ACC/Big Ten Challenge, as announced Friday morning.

The Hurricanes are set to meet the Boilermakers Dec. 8. The game time and TV designation will be announced at a later point.

Purdue logged a 16-15 (9-11 B1G) record in 2019-20 and ended the season ranked top-25 by KenPom.com. The Boilermakers have participated in each of the past five NCAA Tournaments, including reaching the Elite Eight in 2019.

Miami is 0-3 all-time against Purdue, but has never before hosted the Boilermakers. The last meeting came Nov. 27, 2011, when the Hurricanes dropped a 76-65 road decision in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge during head coach Jim Larrañaga’s first season.

The Hurricanes own a 7-6 all-time record in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, including a 4-2 home ledger. Miami sports a 6-3 mark under Larrañaga and is 5-1 in the past six years.

Since the inauguration of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in in 1999, the ACC is 12-6-3 and has an overall record of 133-106.
