Lykes Named to All-ACC Academic Team
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami sophomore guard Chris Lykes (Mitchellville, Md.) has been named to the 2019 All-ACC Academic Men’s Basketball Team, as announced Friday by the conference office.
This marks Lykes’ second straight All-ACC Academic Team honor. A sports administration major, he owns a 3.269 career GPA.
Lykes is averaging 16.2 ppg and ranks ninth in the ACC in scoring. He is averaging 15.9 ppg in conference games, which is 11th among all ACC players. He owns 10 20-point games this season and has upped his scoring average by 6.6 ppg from his freshman season, marking the third-largest increase among active ACC players. He has scored in double figures in 24 of 29 outings, including 18 games of 16 or more points.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
