Get To Know U: Molly Caudery

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Get to Know U is a series that introduces the newest members of the Miami Hurricanes track and field and cross country programs. 
 
In this week’s edition, we get to know more about the English pole vaulter Molly Caudery and what she likes about Miami. 
 
Student-Athlete: Molly Caudery 
Year in School: Freshman 
Major: Kinesiology 
Hometown: Cornwall, Great Britain  
 
Q&A: 
Q: What about Miami stood out to you during the recruiting process? 
A:  I really liked the overall feel for the school and the campus was beautiful. It felt like somewhere I would be happy to live. 
 
Q: What is the main reason you chose to attend Miami? 
 A: I chose to attend Miami because I felt like it was a place I would  be able to excel in both my athletics as well as somewhere I felt I would be happy. 
 
Q: What’s is your favorite thing about Miami?  
A: I really like the support that I get in everything I do. Whether it be in my academics and need a tutor or in training. If there’s something I need help with, there is always someone who will help me and do their best to support me.
 
Q: When you were practicing with the team, what were some of the differences you noticed compared to high school practice?
A: It’s very similar to what I did at home apart from lifting weights in the morning. The practices are slightly shorter, but more intense. 
 
Q: What are your goals for this year?
A: My goals for this year is to jump 4m60 and to make NCAA’s indoors and outdoors. For my season in Europe, I want to medal in the European Juniors and make the team for the World Championships. 
 
Q: What has been the biggest adjustment in terms of training and in terms of campus/social life? 
A: I’ve had to adjust to getting up early for morning weights. I’ve also had to acclimate to the weather and training in the heat.
 
Q: If you were not running cross country/track for the U, what sport would you play? 
 A: I would either do swimming, diving or gymnastics. 
 
Q: What is your favorite food? What food do you not like at all? 
 A: My favorite food is chocolate. I really don’t like brussell sprouts.
 
Q: What is your all-time favorite movie? TV show?
A: I like The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars.
 
Q: What was your most embarrassing “freshman” moment?
 A: I walked into the wrong class and it was full of Army people. They all turned and stared at me, which was embarrassing. I also trip all the time in front of people. 
  
Q: What do you think of your classes so far?
 A: My classes so far have been quite hard to adapt to because it’s a lot different than what I’m used at home.
