Get to Know U: Tyrees Moulton

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Get to Know U is a series that introduces the newest members of the Miami Hurricanes track and field and cross country programs. 
 
In the first edition of this season’s Get to Know U series, we meet Tyrees Moulton, the sprinter out of Glendale, Ariz., and see what his first impressions of Miami are.

Q&A: 
 
Q: What about Miami stood out to you during the recruiting process? 
A: The number one thing that stood out about Miami was how Coach Diego really tried to interact with all the athletes during training. He said something to everyone to help them improve on what they were doing
 
Q: What is the main reason you chose to attend Miami? 
A: The main reason I chose to attend Miami was because I have a chance to start a legacy and be a part of an important building block to turn this program into something great. 
 
Q: What’s is your favorite thing about Miami?  
A: My favorite thing about the University of Miami is that I wake up every day and go outside and it feels like I’m in paradise. It’s one of the best feelings because sometimes it’s just a relief to go outside, sit down and enjoy the atmosphere.
 
Q: When you were practicing with the team, what were some of the differences you noticed compared to high school practice?
A: The main difference from high school practice is that everyone is fast and take their work seriously. Also, in terms of the structure of practice, it’s more warm-up heavy and perfecting your running form. 
 
Q: What are your goals for this year?
A: My major goals this year are to improve my previous PR’s and help my team win the indoor/outdoor ACC championship.
 
Q: What has been the biggest adjustment in terms of training and in terms of campus/social life? 
A: The biggest adjustment to training has been going to prehab and rehab to strengthen the weakest parts of my body. In terms of social/campus life, I’m adjusting to the drastic change of weather. 
 
Q: If you were not running cross country/track for the U, what sport would you play? 
A: If I wasn’t running track, I would definitely be playing soccer. 
 
Q: What is your favorite food? What food do you not like at all? 
A: My favorite food is anything served at breakfast and my least favorite food is pickles. 
 
Q: What is your all-time favorite movie? TV show? 
A: My all-time favorite movies are all of the Harry Potter movies. Bonus answer: My favorite Harry Potter movie is the Order of Phoenix, 10/10 would recommend to all. 
 
Q: What was your most embarrassing “freshman” moment?
A: So far, my most embarrassing freshman moment was leaving my dorm early for a test, being prepared for it with my notebook and everything all out, ready to take the test just to realize I was in the wrong class
 
 Q: What do you think of dining hall food?
A: The dining hall food is really good, especially Food Zone. 
 
Q: What do you think of your classes so far?
A: My classes have all been good, but the class sizes is my favorite part about academics
