Track Hosting Hurricane Collegiate Invitational Saturday

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field team will compete at home for the second straight week as they host the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational Saturday.

The Canes will welcome LSU and North Carolina, as well as a host of teams from the state of Florida, to Cobb Stadium for the final regular season home meets of the 2018 season.

Action is set to begin at 9 a.m. with the men’s high jump, men’s javelin and men’s hammer throw. The running events are set to begin at 12:43 p.m., with the women’s 4x100m relay. The men’s 4x400m relay will close out the meet at 3:50 p.m.
 
Miami’s women will be led by reigning ACC Performer of the Week Samantha Gonzalez, who is one of three Hurricane women that have earned the award that are scheduled to compete this Saturday. Two-time winner Kayla Johnson will run in the 800m and on the 4x400m relay, while Michelle Atherley is set to compete in the long jump and the 100m hurdles.
 
On the men’s side, Isaiah Taylor is slated to run in the 100m one weekend after running a personal-best time of 11.37 seconds that ranks second in UM history. Other Canes to watch include sprinter Myles Valentine, jumper Hasani Knight and thrower Gian Piero Ragonesi.
