CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 25 Miami men’s basketball team heads to Boston College Saturday for a 2 p.m. ACC game at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The ACC’s Regional Sports Networks will broadcast the game, including FOX Sports Florida and FOX Sports South in South Florida. The game also streams online through the WatchESPN app (subject to blackout). WQAM 560-AM has the local radio broadcast.
The Hurricanes (18-5, 7-4 ACC) have won five of their last six games, including an 87-81 victory over Wake Forest Wednesday in Coral Gables. Five Canes scored in double figures, led by freshman Lonnie Walker IV, who scored 19 points and is averaging 18.0 points per game in his last eight games. Walker has earned ACC Co-Rookie of the Week honors each of the last two weeks.
Miami is averaging 75.8 points per game and allowing 66.3 per game. During its recent stretch of five wins in six games, UM has averaged 83 points per game, eclipsing 80 points four times. Coming off a double-double against Wake Forest, Dewan Huell leads the Hurricanes in scoring at 12.8 points per game. Walker is now second on the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game.
UM is 6-3 in true road games this year. The Canes’ total of six road wins is tied for third most among Power 5 schools this season, behind No. 2 Virginia and No. 3 Purdue with seven each.
The Hurricanes feature plenty of Boston-area connections. Injured Miami guard Bruce Brown was born and raised in Boston and played at Vermont Academy. Graduate assistant Danny Rubin played at BC from 2010-14, was a team captain his senior year and competed in 90 games during his BC career. Assistant coach Adam Fisher was the director of operations at Boston University from 2009-11. Player development assistant Chaisson Allen played at Northeastern and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame after scoring 1,550 career points and twice earning first-team All-CAA honors.
Boston College (14-10, 4-7) fell 96-85 at Notre Dame on Tuesday evening. Jerome Robinson scored 46 points in the defeat, the most points by any ACC player in a game this season. Robinson leads the team and ranks second in the ACC scoring at 20.1 points per game. He teams with Ky Bowman (16.6 ppg, 4.9 apg) for the conference’s highest-scoring backcourt. BC averages 76.1 points per game and allows 72.9 points per game.
Boston College holds a 24-23 edge in the all-time series with Miami, although the Hurricanes own a 15-8 advantage since the programs joined the ACC. Miami has won the last 12 meetings, including five straight in Chestnut Hill. Three of the last four matchups have been determined by four points or fewer, including the Canes’ 78-77 win in the teams’ last matchup on Jan. 25, 2017, in Coral Gables.
Miami returns home Tuesday for a 9 p.m. game against No. 2 Virginia (23-1, 12-0) that will be broadcast by ESPN. Fans wishing to attend home Miami basketball games this season are encouraged to use StubHub, the official secondary ticket market for Miami Athletics, to purchase single-game tickets.
