CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami freshman guard Lonnie Walker IV was named the ACC Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday, as announced by the conference office. Walker shares the distinction with Duke’s Marvin Bagley III. This marks Walker’s second league honor; he also earned the award on Dec. 11. it is the third time this season that a Miami freshman has earned the distinction. Chris Lykes picked up the honor on Jan. 8.

A native of Reading, Pa., Walker averaged 24.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in an overtime win over Louisville and an overtime loss at Florida State. He scored 25 points in the Wednesday win over Louisville and 23 in the loss to FSU – his two highest scoring outputs in conference play.

He then blocked a 3-pointer by the Cardinals’ Ryan McMahon in the final seconds of overtime to preserve the win.
