Eighteen Student-Athletes Graduate from Miami
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Eighteen Hurricane student-athletes graduated from four schools and colleges at the University of Miami Thursday morning. The commencement exercises took place at the Watsco Center.
Four Miami athletics teams were represented with at least one fall graduate. Football led the way with 12 graduates, followed by track and field with four, while volleyball and swimming and diving each had one graduate apiece.
Earlier this fall, Hurricane student-athletes posted a graduation success rate of 91 percent, which is above the national average of 86 percent. Miami also is tied for the 13th-best GSR among football bowl subdivision institutions.
According to a survey conducted by the UM Toppel Career Center on graduating students, 52 percent had full-time job offers within six months of graduation, with an average base annual starting salary of $51,379. Roughly 20 percent of that same graduating class enrolled in graduate school.
