CORAL GABLES, Florida – The No. 10/13 Miami men’s basketball team heads to downtown Miami Saturday night to play Princeton in the Hoophall Miami Invitational at AmericanAirlines Arena. Slated for a tip at 8 p.m., the game is part of a doubleheader, with No. 2 Kansas playing Syracuse in the opener.
 
The Miami-Princeton game will be televised by ESPNU. WZAB 880-AM will broadcast the game locally. The telecast also will be streamed through the WatchESPN app.
 
Ranked No. 10 nationally in the Associated Press Poll and No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, Miami (6-0) is coming off its most impressive victory of the young season, an 86-81 triumph at No. 12 Minnesota Wednesday as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Hurricanes are one of 17 remaining unbeaten teams in Division I.
 
Miami is averaging 80.8 points per game while yielding just 58.5 per game. The Hurricanes rank second in the ACC and sixth nationally in scoring defense. UM is limiting its opponents to 36.5 percent shooting, which is fourth in the ACC and 17th in Division I, and 25.5 percent shooting from 3-point range, which is second in the ACC and 13th nationally.
 
The Hurricanes’ balanced attack on offense features eight players who average at least 6.3 points per game. Dewan Huell leads UM in scoring at 15.0 points per game, while Ja’Quan Newton is averaging 11.7. Bruce Brown Jr. is averaging 10.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. He leads all ACC guards in rebounding this year.
 
Miami owns a 3-2 record at AmericanAirlines Arena, which opened in 1999. After playing four games in the arena from 2001-04, Miami returned last year, winning 74-57 against Wofford in the Hoophall Invitational.
 
Princeton (2-4) lost 85-76 at home to Lehigh Wednesday. Devin Cannady leads the team in scoring at 19.8 points per game and has been lethal from long distance, hitting 59.1 percent of his 3-point attempts (26-for-44). Myles Stephens is scoring 14.5 points per game. Princeton is scoring 68.0 points per game and allowing 71.3 per game.
 
Miami and Princeton have played three times previously, but just once since 1948. The Hurricanes hold a 2-1 lead in the series. The programs faced off on Dec. 29, 2015, in Coral Gables, with UM posting a 76-64 win. The other two meetings came on Dec. 28 and 29, 1948, in Coral Gables, with UM winning the first game, 37-35, and Princeton taking the second, 62-55 in double overtime.
