Miami #2 in Latest College Football Playoff Rankings

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The Miami Hurricanes jumped one spot to No. 2 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday night, earning the program’s highest ranking since the inception of the CFP in 2014.
 
Miami (10-0) was behind No. 1 Alabama (11-0) but ahead of No. 3 Clemson (10-1) and No. 4 Oklahoma (10-1). The Hurricanes made their “top four” debut in last week’s rankings, when they checked in at No. 3.

The Hurricanes, who beat Virginia 44-28 at Hard Rock Stadium last time out, swapped positions with Clemson, who was No. 2 in last week’s rankings.
  
Miami checked in at No. 10 in the first CFP rankings of the season released on Oct. 31.
 
For the second straight week, Miami (10-0, 7-0 ACC) was ranked No. 2 in both the Associated Press poll and the Amway Coaches Poll.  Prior to Nov. 12, the last time Miami was ranked as high as No. 2 in both polls was Oct. 26, 2003.
 
The Hurricanes, who are ranked in the top 10 of both polls for the sixth straight week, entered the season ranked in both preseason polls for the first time since 2010.
 
In their two seasons under the direction of head coach Mark Richt, the Hurricanes have been ranked in the top 10 of both polls in both seasons; in Week 6 of 2016, Miami was ranked No. 10 in both the Associated Press poll and Amway Coaches Poll.
 
The Hurricanes are looking to close a perfect regular season for the first time since 2002 when they travel to Pittsburgh on Nov. 24. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. on ABC from Heinz Field.
