GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field program showcased its relay teams on the final day of the 2017 Pepsi Florida Relays.

The Canes’ final race of the day was one of the most impressive of the weekend, as Anna Runia, Aiyanna Stiverne, Brittny Ellis and Shakima Wimbley combined to finish third in the Tom Jones college women’s 4x400m relay with a time of 3:27.87 that ranks third in the NCAA this year and second all-time in UM history.

The Hurricanes finished second in the men’s college 4x400m relay, as McKinly Brown, Henri Delauze, Breon Mullings and Ibrahim Dodo combined for a season-best time of 3:08.89 that ranks fifth all-time in UM history.

“I’m very pleased with the men’s and women’s 4×400 relay this weekend,” Miami director of track and field/cross country Amy Deem said. “They were aggressive and determined, which you always love to see.”

Miami finished seventh overall in the women’s 4x100m relay, as Carolyn Brown, Kristina Knott, Ebony Morrison and Stiverne teamed for a season-best time of 44.05 seconds.

The Canes finished seventh in the women’s 1600m sprint medley relay, as Erin Ford, Trishelle Leacock, Samantha Gonzalez and Amy Taintor combined for a time of 3:58.34.

The men’s 4x100m relay quartet of Isaiah Taylor, Mullings, Brandon Taylor and Valentine combined to finish 15th with a season-best time of 40.03 seconds that ranks fourth in school history.

“Overall, we had some impressive marks this weekend, as well as areas where I know we can improve,” Deem said. “The effort is there. We just have to continue to trust our training and strive to getting better each week.”

Following this weekend’s action, the Canes will return to Coral Gables, Fla., to compete at their final home meet of the 2017 season, the Hurricane Alumni Invitational. Senior standouts Shakima Wimbley, Ebony Morrison, Aiyanna Stiverne and Carlos Mangum are among the Miami seniors that will be honored at their final home track meet as Hurricanes.
