@CanesFutbol Receiving Votes in NSCAA Poll
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – For the first time in 2016, the University of Miami soccer team is receiving votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) rankings.
Including those in the top 25, Miami is one of 37 teams in the country to earn multiple points in the balloting this week. That list includes nine programs from the ACC, five of which are ranked in the top 15.
This is the first time Miami has received votes in the NSCAA Poll’s national rankings since Oct. 30, 2012.
The Hurricanes are also ranked eighth in the Southeast Region this week, their highest positioning of the season. Miami was previously No. 10 in the region in the Week 7 poll that was released Oct. 7.
Miami is coming off a 2-0 week in which it defeated Louisville, 3-0, and topped No. 25 Virginia Tech, 2-1, in double overtime. The victories clinched the team’s first berth in the ACC Championship since 2012 and helped Miami set a new program record with five conference wins in a season.
The Hurricanes, who own a 10-7-0 (5-4-0 ACC) record, will finish regular season play Thursday night at 7 p.m., when they take on No. 12 Notre Dame at Alumni Stadium.
