AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Miami track and field program was red hot on a chilly day at the 2016 Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

The Hurricanes were unfazed by the temperatures in the low 60s and the multiple delays due to inclement weather at Michael A. Myers Stadium, running some impressive times on Day 2 of Texas Relays.

The women’s 4x100m relay team of Shakima Wimbley, Carolyn Brown, Aiyanna Stiverne and Ebony Morrison combined to run a season-best time 44.81 seconds that was fifth during preliminaries and earned the Canes a spot in the finals.

Morrison also impressed in the women’s 100m hurdles, posting a time of 13.57 seconds that was eighth during preliminaries and earned the junior a spot in the finals.

Miami also had success in the field events as Gian Piero Ragonesi finished third in the men’s discus with a throw of 52.05m.

John-Patrick Friday had a strong showing in the men’s long jump, finishing sixth with a mark of 7.22m, while fellow senior Innocent Jacob placed eighth with a mark of 7.14m. Friday also had a top 10 finish in the men’s triple jump, placing seventh with a mark of 15.01m, while freshman Kyra Maryland placed sixth in the women’s high jump with a mark of 1.61m.

The Canes also had a good showing at Florida Relays on Friday, led by sophomores Henri Delauze and Stefani Kerrison. Delauze ran a season-best time of 47.38 seconds in the men’s college 400m dash, while Kerrison posted a time of 13.66 seconds in her first running of the 100m hurdles this season.

Luke Dublirer ran a personal-best time of 1:56.35 in the men’s 800m and the men’s 4x400m relay team of Breon Mullings, Delauze, Joseph Ryan and Anthony Wolliston combined to run a season-best time of 3:11.48.
