@CanesWTennis Returns Home to Face Notre Dame
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team is set for its first ACC home match since Jan. 29 when it hosts No. 31 Notre Dame Sunday.
No. 21 Miami (5-4, 2-2 ACC) will take on the Fighting Irish at 10 a.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. Notre Dame will be the 10th-straight ranked opponent the Hurricanes face, and the eighth of that group in the top 35.
The Hurricanes are an even 10-10 all-time against Notre Dame. Miami has won each of the past six meetings, including all three since the Fighting Irish joined the ACC for the 2014 season.
Notre Dame enters the match at 8-4 this spring, including 3-1 in ACC competition. The Fighting Irish feature two ranked singles players in No. 41 Quinn Gleason and No. 56 Monica Robinson. Gleason and Robinson also form Notre’s Dame lone ranked singles pair, checking in at No. 21 in the country.
Miami has four ranked singles players, including two in the top 10. Sophomore Sinead Lohan, ranked seventh, and senior Stephanie Wagner, ranked eighth, are followed by sophomore Yolimar Ogando at No. 39 and fellow sophomore Wendy Zhang at No. 93. Ogando has yet to play this spring due to injury.
In doubles, Wagner and Zhang are ranked No. 11, while Wagner teams with fellow senior Clementina Riobueno at No. 59 nationally.
Sunday morning’s action will be televised live on ESPN3 HERE and live stats for the match will also be available HERE.
