The Series
Miami is 5-17 in the all-time series against Duke, which dates back to the 1962-63 season. The Canes are 3-7 at home against the Blue Devils, 2-8 on the road and 0-2 at neutral sites. Under Coach L, Miami is 3-2 against Duke, 1-1 at home and 2-1 on the road. Miami won the last matchup with Duke, defeating the Blue Devils, 90-74, on Jan. 13, 2015 at the Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Since Coach L’s arrival at Miami in 2011-12 …
* Miami is one of two teams in the country to beat Duke three-or-more times (Notre Dame four times).
* Duke has five losses by 16-plus – two of them are to Miami.
* Duke is 2-5 when allowing its opponent to score 90 points. Miami has two of those victories: 90-63 on Jan. 23, 2013 at Miami, and 90-74 on Jan. 13, 2015 at Duke.
* Miami (3) and Notre Dame (4) are the only ACC schools with three-or-more wins over Duke and one of seven ACC schools with multiple wins over the Blue Devils.

The Series between Miami and Duke
Since the arrival of Jim Larrañaga at Miami, the Hurricanes have posted a 3-2 mark against Duke, earning three of UM’s five all-time wins against the Blue Devils.
Miami has outscored Duke 380-357 in those five games. The Canes have made 46.1 percent (135-293) of their shots while the Blue Devils have hit only 40.4 percent (127-314). From distance, Miami is 34-93 (36.6%) and Duke is 38-123 (30.9%). The Canes have out-rebounded Duke 196-194 and scored more points in the paint (164-152).

Miami vs. Duke in the Larrañaga Era
Miami has posted a 7-5 combined record against Duke (3-2) and North Carolina (4-3). In the four years prior to Coach L, the Canes were 1-12 against Duke (1-6) and North Carolina (0-6).
Miami has the most lopsided win of any ACC team over Duke (27 points) and second-most lopsided wins over Boston College (27 points), North Carolina (26 points) and Florida State (24 points).
Miami has won eight ACC games by 20 or more points: Boston College (27, 22, 22 and 21), Duke (27), North Carolina (26), Florida State (24) and Virginia Tech (24).
McClellan One of Top Shooting Guards in the Nation, Top in ACC
Senior guard Sheldon McClellan has posted the eighth-best shooting percentage (52.0%) in the country among guards, and has the top shooting percentage among guards in the ACC, according to stats on NCAA.org on Jan. 23. McClellan’s 2-point shooting percentage is 59.6 percent this season.
McClellan is currently on three national player of the year early-season watch lists: Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year, Oscar Robertson Trophy for Men’s National Player of the Year and Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award.
Rodriguez Among the Best
Angel Rodriguez is now one of only three active Division I players with at least 1,200 career points, 450 assists, 180 steals and 150 3-pointers.
Canes Have Stingy 3-Point Defense
In 10 of the last 11 games, Miami has held each of its opponents to less than 33.3 percent shooting per game from long range – holding them to a combined 24.0 percent mark in those 10 games – with Clemson’s 43.8 percent the exception. In the first seven games, Miami averaged 41.4 percent 3-point defense. Opponents shot better than 32 percent from three in six of the first seven games. The Canes held in-state opponents Florida and Florida State to 8.3 percent and 10.5 percent from long range, respectively.
Dewan Huell Named 2016 McDonald’s All-American
Miami signee Dewan Huell has been named a 2016 McDonald’s All-American, as announced on ESPNU Jan. 17. Huell will become the fourth McDonald’s All-American to play at Miami, joining Darius Rice (2000 McDonald’s All-American), Steve Edwards (1992) and Tito Horford (1985). Since the inception of the McDonald’s All American Game in 1977, only 38 players have hailed from the state of Florida, 11 of which were from ‘The State of Miami’ – Broward, Dade and Palm Beach counties. Just six of those players have been from Dade County, the most recent before Huell being Corey Louis in 1994.
