Miami Back in Top 20 in Both National Polls
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami is back in the top 20 rankings of both The Associated Press and USA TODAY Coaches poll this week, checking in at No. 17/20 respectively.
Miami opened the season receiving votes in the preseason poll, then jumped to No. 15/19 after defeating No. 16 Utah and No. 22/20 Butler in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. The Canes fell to No. 21 in both polls, announced Nov. 30, before moving back into the top 25 this week.
Miami has now been ranked in three-straight polls before the new year in back-to-back seasons. In 2014-15, UM was ranked four-straight weeks from Nov. 24 to Dec. 15. Prior to that, the last time UM was ranked three-straight weeks before Jan. 1 was the 2008-09 season, when the Canes were No. 17/16 (Nov. 17), No. 22/21 (Nov. 24) and No. 21/22 (Dec. 1).
UM hosts Florida, which is receiving votes in both polls, on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. at the BankUnited Center. The game is completely SOLD OUT. However, tickets are available on StubHub, the official fan to fan ticket marketplace of Miami athletics, starting at $30.
