Lachowecki Named Second Team All-ACC
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Junior Gracie Lachowecki of the University of Miami soccer team was selected to the 2015 All-ACC Second Team, as announced Thursday by the conference.
The 5-foot-7 forward is the sixth All-ACC honoree in program history and the second in head coach Mary-Frances Monroe’s three years at the helm, joining 2013 third team choice Ashley Flinn.
“I am extremely proud of Gracie about being named to the All-ACC team. This is a wonderful accomplishment,” Monroe said. “She worked so hard this year and deserved this honor. She came up big for us in so many games this season. We can’t wait to get back on the field and watch her continue to grow and be successful.”
Despite missing two games due to injury, Lachowecki finished the regular season tied for third in the ACC in goals (12) and tied for fifth in points (25). Her 0.80 goals and 1.67 points per game ranked second and third, respectively.
In conference play, Lachowecki was at her best. She ranked first in goals (nine) and goals per game (1.00) in ACC action, as well as tied for first in points (18) and second in points per game (2.00).
Lachowecki was the first ACC player with multiple hat tricks this season and is one of just three players nationally in a Power Five conference to tally at least four goals in a single match.
“It’s a great honor to be selected to one of the All-ACC teams and I’m very excited about it,” Lachowecki said. “I was happy to be making more of an impact this year as compared to previous seasons. My teammates and I put in a lot of work this year, so hopefully we can build off it and find even more success next year.”
The Evansville, Ind. native is the first Hurricane to be named to the All-ACC first or second team since Kate Howarth made Second Team All-ACC in 2011.
