@CanesFutbol Captain's Corner: Oct. 30, 2015
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The captains of the University of Miami soccer team for the 2015 season are writing a blog for HurricaneSports.com this year called Captain’s Corner.
Miami concludes its 2015-16 campaign Saturday with a 7 p.m. home match against North Carolina and Friday, one day before the finale, junior Gianna Dal Pozzo provides the final entry of the season. The defender from Naperville, Ill. touches on the Hurricanes’ recent road matches, the last week of practice and her relationship with the outgoing seniors . . .
This weekend we played Syracuse and Boston College. It was pretty cold compared to what we’re used to, but big puffy jackets helped. We had two heartbreaking losses in overtime. It’s crazy how we’ve had five ACC overtime games. It goes to show how this team doesn’t give up and how we’re in every game.
The team we went to a haunted farm Friday night, which was fun, but really scary. Saturday was cool because we walked around downtown Boston. It was a cute area and I had never been there before.
Tuesday started our last week of practice for the season. We played 5v5 and all the seniors were on one team. Rightfully so, they ended up winning. After practice we lifted. Wednesday and Thursday were pretty standard practices and we watched film, too.
This is a sad week knowing that we only have one game left with our seniors. They have played a huge role on this team and will be missed on and off the field. I, along with the rest of the team, have become so close with the seniors and it’ll be weird without them here. I know we will stay in touch and remain friends for years to come. I wish them the best of luck and know they’ll be successful in all their future careers.
