Four Canes Inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa

CORAL GABLES, Fla. Four University of Miami student-athletes have been tapped into the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society this month.

Emily Auld and Catalina Perez of the Hurricane soccer team Stephanie Wagner of the women’s tennis team and Alexis Wright of the women’s track team have all been inducted into ODK.

A century-old national leadership society, ODK includes college students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni. Its members excel in a variety of categories, including athletics, academics and campus/community/religious service.

A junior midfielder from Somerset, England, Auld has played in 46 of 52 matches in her career, with 21 starts. Last year, Auld tied for second on the team in goals and ranked third in points. This season, Auld has played in every match and scored the winning goal in Miami’s victory at FGCU.

Academically, Auld has a tremendous 3.938 GPA as an accounting major. She has been on the President’s Honor Roll, which requires a 4.0 GPA, in three of her four semesters, and has made the Provost’s Honor Roll, which has a 3.75 GPA minimum, in all of them. Auld has also been chosen for the ACC Honor Roll each of the last two years.

Perez, a goalkeeper from Boca Raton, Fla., has a team-high 40 saves this season. The redshirt sophomore garnered numerous major honors after her clean sheet in Miami’s double overtime win against No. 14/4 Notre Dame Oct. 2. Perez was named the College Soccer 360 National Primetime Player of the Week, the Top Drawer Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week and the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

In the classroom, Perez boasts a stellar 3.974 GPA as a finance major with a marketing minor. She has been tabbed as a President’s Honor Roll selection in three of her semesters at Miami, making the Provost’s Honor Roll in all of them. Perez, who was also tapped into the Mortar Board National Honor Society this month, made the ACC Honor Roll in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

A senior from Amberg, Germany, Wagner is the ranked sixth nationally in singles by the ITA. She went 38-12 in 2014-15 and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Singles Championship. Wagner was named an ITA All-American, First Team All-ACC, ITA National Player to Watch, and UM Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

Wagner has also excelled academically, earning a superb 3.652 GPA as an economics major with minors in psychology and business administration. She has made the Dean’s List on three separate occasions and was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete in 2013 and 2015. Wagner has been on the All-ACC Academic Team each of the past three seasons and won ACC Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2015.

A senior, Wright has been a leader on and off the field for the Miami track team throughout her career. The Tampa, Fla. native has competed in both jumps and hurdles for the Hurricanes and has represented the team at prestigious meets such as the Tyson Invitational, Florida Relays and the ACC Championships.

A microbiology and immunology major with minors in chemistry and psychology, Wright has registered an impressive 3.645 GPA at Miami. The Roland A. Hammond Scholar has earned Dean’s List honors five times, Provost’s Honor Roll accolades three times and President’s Honor Roll recognition once.
