ProCanes Report: 17 Canes on Pro Rosters

NBA
James Jones, Cleveland Cavaliers –Jones is a key role player on a stacked Cavs team that made it to the NBA Finals last season. Jones’ experience and rapport with teammate, LeBron James, makes him an effective option off the bench. Through three preseason games, Jones is averaging 8 points while playing 15.7 minutes per game. Known to be a consistent free throw shooter, Jones is perfect at the line this preseason, converting on all five of his free throw attempts.

Shane Larkin, Brooklyn Nets – With two years of experience under his belt, Larkin is looking to improve his game after time spent with the Mavericks and Knicks. Through three preseason games, Larkin has averaged 10 points and 4 assists 23 minutes per game.

Dequan Jones, Atlanta Hawks —  Jones is on the Atlanta Hawks’ preseason roster, and has scored four points in 1.7 minutes so far this preseason.

D – League
Adrian Thomas, Bakersfield Jam – Thomas currently plays in the D-League, where he averaged 4.2 points and 13.5 minutes per game last season. The Jam earned a berth in the D-League playoffs last season, but ended up losing to the Austin Spurs 2-1 in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Overseas
Garrius Adams, STB Le Havre (France) – Adams recently signed with STB Le Havre, of the French League, for the 2015-16 season. Adams has come off of the bench for all three games for STB Le Havre this season, and is averaging 17.3 minutes per game.

Brian Asbury, JL Bourg (France) – On July 20, Asbury signed with JL Bourg of Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro B.

Rion Brown, Basic-Fit Brussels (Belgium) — After playing in the Israel Winner League for Hapoel Tel-Aviv alongside former Hurricanes teammate Durand Scott, Brown now plays for Basic-Fit Brussels in the Beligum-Scooore League. Brown starts alongside another former Hurricanes teammate, Julian Gamble. Brown comes off the bench for Basic-Fit Brussels, and is averaging 2 points and 1.5 steals in 16 minutes. The team currently sits at 1-1.

Guillermo Diaz, Capitanes de Arecibo (Puerto Rico) – Diaz is currently playing in the Puerto Rico-BSN League. Diaz is leading the team in minutes played (28) and steals (1.7) per game. He is tied for first in scoring (12.7), adds 4.7 rebounds per game, and he is shooting 60 percent from the field and 87.5 percent from the free throw line.

Julian Gamble, Basic-Fit Brussels (Belgium) — Gamble is the starting center for Basic Fit Brussels. He plays alongside former Hurricanes teammate Rion Brown. Through two games, Gamble leads the team in rebounds per game at 7 and is second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game.

Lawrence Gilbert, CSU Atlassib Sibiu (Romania) – Gilbert signed with CSU Atlassib Sibiu of the Romanian League in August of this year. He is listed as a starting small forward. Through two games this season, Gilbert is second on the team with 9 points and adds 4 rebounds through 24 minutes played per game.

Gary Hamilton, Bohemios Montevideo (Uruguay) –  Hamilton was signed by Bohemios Montevideo of the Uruguay-LUB league. He is listed as a forward/center for the team, and through two games this season, averages 10.5 points per game. He also leads the team in rebounds per game (8) and minutes per game (35).

Kenny Kadji, New Basket Enel Brindisi (Italy) – Kadji signed with New Basket Enel Brindisi joining former UM teammate Durand Scott. Through two games this season, Kadji is averaging 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in 29 minutes played per game. He is shooting a whopping 62 percent from the field and 50 percent from three.

Anthony King, Royal Hali Gaziantep (Turkey) — King recently signed with Royal Hali Gaziantep of the Turkish League and is their starting center. In the one game played this year, King has 4 points to go along with 5 rebounds in 16 minutes played.

Donnavan Kirk, Fukuoka Rising (Japan) – Kirk recently was added to the roster at Fukuoka Rising in the BJ League in Japan. He had joined ASA Koroivos Amaliadas of the Greek A1 League in early April. He joined Koroivos after helping his former team, Michelin Etha Engomis Nicosia, win the Cyprus League Cup in an All-Star performance season. Kirk had 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game in 15 games for Etha. 

Trey McKinney Jones, Maccabi Kiryat-Gat (Israel) – McKinney Jones recently signed with Maccabi Kiryat-Gat of the Israel Winner League. He has 2 points and 3 rebounds in one game played for his new team so far this season.

Darius Rice, Karpos Sokoli 200 Skpoje, (Macedonia) – Rice started at power forward for the Karpos Sokoli 2000 Skopje of the FYR Macedonia-Priva Liga for the 2014-15. While he only played in 14 games, Rice led the team in scoring and came second in rebounding, averaging 16.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. 

Durand Scott, New Basket Enel Brindisi (Italy) – Scott recently signed with New Basket Enel Brindisi of the Italian League-Serie A, joining former UM teammate, Kenny Kadji. He was also included on the Milwaukee Bucks 2015 Summer League roster. As one of the first players off the bench for Enel Brindisi, Scott has 7 points and 2 rebounds in 20.5 minutes played this season.
