#ThrowdownThursday: Mac Skies For Inbound Lob
It was difficult, but we made it through two weeks of throwdowns without Sheldon McLellan. His absence is short-lived as he returns in this installment.
Doesn’t it feel great when everything goes exactly according to plan? That’s what happened on this inbound pass play to Mac. Tonye Jekiri‘s screen at the top of the right wing preoccupied two South Alabama defenders, leaving Mac with an open runway for take off. We’ve been left in awe of Mac’s vertical ability before, but here his range is most impressive. The lob was ever so slightly behind him that he had to cock his arm back and bring down the tomahawk jam. (Sort of reminds you of this guy.)
Sheldon’s vertical leap on this play puts his head above the 10-foot rim. At 6-foot-5, that puts his vertical at around four feet, which is roughly significantly higher than however high you can jump. The Canes went on to beat the Jaguars, 87-75.
