The Game
No. 15 Miami hosts Green Bay on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. in the BankUnited Center, in the third of five-straight home games for the Hurricanes.
The Series
Miami is 2-1 in the all-time series against Green Bay, which dates back to the 1985-86 season. The Canes are 0-1 against Green Bay at home, 1-0 on the road and 1-0 at neutral sites. Miami won the last matchup defeating the Phoenix, 80-54, on Nov. 15, 2005 at the BCA Classic in Seattle, Wash.

Miami Ranked No. 15 in Both Polls
Miami is ranked No. 15 in both polls, as of Dec. 1. It is the highest ranking in December in the history of Canes basketball (chart on page 2). When Miami is ranked in the Top 25 under Coach L, the Canes are 19-4. Miami made its season debut in the Top 20 of both major college basketball polls Nov. 24. Miami checked in at No. 17 in the Associated Press top 25, and earned a No. 20 ranking in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll. The Hurricanes were last ranked in the final polls of the 2012-13 season, holding the No. 5 spot in the final AP poll and No. 10 in USA Today Coaches Poll. The last time Miami was ranked in the month of November was in 2008-09 when the Canes opened the year No. 17/16, then were No. 22/21 in polls released on Nov. 24, 2008.
UM Shooting Nearly 50 Percent
Miami is shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three while holding opponents to 38.7 percent and 29.1 percent, respectively. The Canes have shot better than 50 percent from the field in four of their last five games, and have shot better than 43.9 percent in every game except vs. Illinois (37.9%). UM has also hit 50.0 percent or better from distance in three games.
Lecomte On Fire
Sophomore guard Manu Lecomte is hitting 55.2 percent (37-67) from the field, 50.0 percent (20-40) from long range and 85.7 percent (12-14) at the line in his sophomore season with the Canes. After averaging 7.7 points per game as a rookie, Lecomte has improved to 13.3 ppg this year, scoring in double digits in seven of eight games. Last year Lecomte scored in double digits 11 times in 33 games played.
Rodriguez on Robertson & Cousy Award Watch Lists
Junior PG Angel Rodriguez is one of 36 players listed on the watch list for the 2015 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award and was one of 24 players named to the early-season watch list for the 2014-15 Oscar Robertson Trophy for national player of the year, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced Nov. 24.
Freshmen Playing with Confidence
Miami’s four scholarship freshmen are playing with confidence as Deandre Burnett is the team’s fourth-leading scorer while coming off the bench. With Omar Sherman (7.3), James Palmer (6.4) and Ja’Quan Newton (4.0) add depth to the Canes’ offensive attack. Palmer leads the freshmen with his 47.6 percent shooting, followed by Sherman (46.9%), Newton (45.0%) and Burnett (36.8%).
Sharing the Ball
Through eight games, the Hurricanes have averaged 15.6 assists per game on 27.5 made field goals per outing. Miami’s high was 21 assists against South Alabama. Angel Rodriguez leads the way with 4.8 per game.
Canes Open 8-0 for First Time Since 2009
Miami improved to 8-0 to open the season for the first time of Coach Larrañaga’s UM career. The Canes opened 4-1 in 2011-12 and 2012-13, and 3-2 in 2013-14. The last time UM opened 8-0 was in 2009-10, when Miami opened 8-0. In 2007-08, Miami started the year 12-0.
McClellan Tabbed ACC Player of the Week
Junior guard Sheldon McClellan was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Dec. 1. McClellan hit 73.9 percent (17-of-23) from the field, 75 percent (6-of-8) from 3-point range and 100 percent (8-of-8) from the foul line in two Miami wins this week. The Houston native averaged 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 31.5 minutes per game. On the 10th day of an 11-day road trip, McClellan notched a double-double with 31 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 11-of-17 (64.7 percent) from the field and 5-of-7 (.714) from beyond the arc in Miami’s 77-74 win at Charlotte. In an 87-75 win over South Alabama, McClellan scored 17 points on a perfect 6-of-6 performance from the field.
