Golf Travels to Michigan for Season Opener

Ann Arbor, Mich. – This weekend (Sept. 20-22) the University of Miami golf team will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to open their fall campaign at the inaugural East & West Match Play Challenge co-hosted by Michigan and Wisconsin at the Radrick Farms Golf Course.

The Hurricanes will be competing in an eight-team field, including Iowa, Michigan, No. 23 Ohio State, Purdue, Southern Methodist, UC Davis and Wisconsin.

On Saturday, the teams will play 36 holes to determine the seeding for the championship round. Four teams will advance to the championship round and the bottom four will participate in a consolation bracket. Team strokes will be calculated by the lowest four scores, with any ties decided by the fifth player’s 36-hole score total.

Championship match play begins on Sunday. The No. 1 seed will face the No. 4 seed while No. 2 takes on No. 3. A tournament champion will be crowned after play on Monday.

Saturday’s first round and Sunday’s second round action begins at 9 a.m. ET and the final round Monday will start at 8:45 a.m. ET.

The Hurricanes’ lineup will feature sophomore Delfina Acosta, junior Kailey Walsh, junior Christina Ocampo, senior Leticia Ras-Anderica and sophomore Daniela Darquea.

Eight non-team individuals will follow the same format and compete in a match play event of their own, including Miami junior Laura Hendee.

Following their trip to Ann Arbor, the Hurricanes will begin preparing for the Windy City Collegiate Classic in Highland Park, Ill.
