Five Hurricanes Playing in Las Vegas
Former Miami Hurricanes Shane Larkin, Rion Brown, Kenny Kadji, Trey McKinney Jones and DeQuan Jones are all participating in the 2014 Samsung NBA Summer League held in Las Vegas from July 11-21.
New York Knick Shane Larkin has scored 17 points in a pair of summer league games. Larkin had seven points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal against the Portland Trail Blazers. With 28.5 seconds left on the clock, Larkin hit a game-winner leading his team to a 71-69 victory over the Blazers. Larkin followed with 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals against his former team, the Dallas Mavericks.
Charlotte Hornet Rion Brown has scored 10 points grabbed four rebounds and dished one assist in 23 minutes. He is 1-4 from long distance and 3-4 at the free throw line.
Kenny Kadji, playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, has recorded two rebounds, one block and one steal in 13 total minutes.
After playing three games with the Heat in the Orlando League, Trey McKinney Jones joined the San Antonio Spurs in Las Vegas, recording four points and two rebounds in eight minutes against Cleveland.
DeQuan Jones, who played for the Indiana Pacers in Orlando, has joined the New Orleans Pelicans in Las Vegas. He notched 14 points – going 5-6 from the field and 3-3 at the line – with four rebounds and a pair of steals against the Lakers.
From July 5-11 the Orlando Magic hosted 25 games of the Orlando League at their Amway Center practice court. The Las Vegas League consists of 67 games between the dates of July 11 and July 21, which are held at both the Thomas & Mack Center and the COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Las Vegas. All games will be broadcast on NBA TV, NBA.com, and on the NBA Game Time app.
