Hart Named Assistant Soccer Coach
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Tim Hart has been named assistant coach for the Miami Hurricanes soccer program, announced Tuesday by head coach Mary-Frances Monroe.
“Tim is a great addition to our soccer staff,” Monroe said. “I have known Tim for a few years now, and I am excited about his ability to make our goalkeepers better and to help us compete at the highest level in the ACC.”
Hart joins the Hurricanes after serving for three years as assistant men’s soccer coach at Albany, where his primary focus was with the Great Danes goalkeepers. He will carry the same responsibility for a Hurricanes program returning two-year veteran Emily Lillard and rising sophomore Catalina Perez.
“I’m extremely excited to be down here and become a part of the Canes soccer program,” Hart said. “I’m working with a great staff in Mary-Frances and Kate [Dylag]. I’m excited to be in the ACC, working at Miami, and pushing our team to be as competitive as possible.”
Prior to his three-year stint with the Great Danes, Hart spent three seasons as the head coach of Holy Names University, an NAIA school located in Oakland, Calif.
As a collegiate soccer player, Hart attended Rio Grande University (Ohio) for two years before transferring to Holy Names. Originally from Coventry, England, he grew up playing in the Aston Villa and Derby County Football Clubs before signing an apprentice contract with Shrewsbury Town.
“With Tim having experience in the English Premier League academies as a youth player, our players know that he understands what they are going through and how demanding it can be,” Monroe said. “We’re all excited to get started.”
A two-time graduate of Holy Names, Hart received his B.A. in psychology in 2007, and earned a master’s degree in education in 2010. He has earned National, Advanced National, and Premier Diplomas from the NSCAA.
Entering his first season with the Hurricanes, Hart is excited to join the top collegiate soccer conference in the nation.
“I’m expecting every game to be competitive. Every match will be a battle,” Hart said. “I’m hopeful, with the group we have returning and the group we have coming in, that we’ll be competitive, get some wins under our belt, and make our way into the NCAA Tournament.”
