Milestones Highlight 2013 for Hurricane Club

2013 was a historic year for the Hurricane Club, the fundraising arm for the University of Miami Athletics Department. From record membership to shovel-ready projects, the Hurricane Club has reached unprecedented success under the guidance of Athletics Director Blake James and Associate AD Jesse Marks.

Below are POINTS OF PRIDE highlighting Hurricane Club’s record-setting 2013:

• The Hurricane Club reached more than 6,900 active members, a school record
• The Hurricane Club added more than 2,000 new members, a school record
• UM opened the new Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence, which was fully funded by more than $15 million in donations all made by Hurricane Club members
• The Hurricane Club received a Bronze TELLY Award for its award-winning “Building Champions” campaign
• The Hurricane Club launched the “It Starts With You” referral program that produced 40+ representatives, 70+ gifts and nearly $100,000 in new gifts
• In November, the Hurricane Club announced the $7 million Football Victory Fund, which was created to address the most urgent needs of the football program.

The mission of the Hurricane Club is to strengthen the University of Miami’s commitment to student-athlete excellence both academically and athletically. Through the Hurricane Club, volunteers, fans, alumni and former student-athletes collectively seek to provide the operational and scholarship funding vital for all 18 varsity sports.

2014 Hurricane Club Membership Renewals are now available online. Renewals include seating donations for football and men’s basketball, and philanthropic gifts. If you wish to make your tax-deductible calendar year-end gift, please see the following options below:

• Online: You can make your gift anytime by going to our direct giving website. Online donations must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2013, in order for tax receipts to be issued with a 2013 date.
• By Mail: In order for donations to be recognized as a calendar year 2013 gift, the check must be dated prior to January 1, 2013, and the envelope must be postmarked in 2013. Year-end contributions can be mailed to the Hurricane Club at:
