#ProCanes Report: Gamble Wins Award

This #ProCanes Report brings you the most recent news from former Miami men’s basketball players. Most recently, Julian Gamble was voted the Player of the Month Award in France’s Pro B League. With D-League games recently starting, DeQuan Jones, Lance Hurdle, Reggie Johnson, and Trey McKinney Jones continue to shine in game action.

NBA:

James Jones (Miami HEAT) – JJ’s best game this season came in a Miami Heat win over the Orlando Magic on Nov. 20, where he was third on the team with 17 points. He has only played in five games this year, and continues to slowly find his groove.

Shane Larkin (Dallas Mavericks) – Larkin has totaled nine games for the Mavericks, averaging just over 12 minutes per game. He continues make a presence, averaging just about 3.0 points per game, 1.7 assists per game, 1.2 steals per game, and 1.0 rebounds per game. His best game performance this season came against Golden State on Nov. 27 where he totaled six assists, one steal, and seven points in 17 minutes.

John Salmons (Sacramento Kings) – Salmons has played in 16 games so far this year. In his last three-game stretch, he has totaled 25 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 blocks. He has been in numerous close games this year, and his team continues struggling finding ways to win the close ones.

NBA D-LEAGUE:

DeQuan Jones (Reno Bighorns – Nevada, D-League) – In November, the Reno Bighorns acquired Jones, and in four games so far, he averages 29.5 minutes per game and 12.3 points per game. He leads his team with an average of 1.8 steals per game.

Lance Hurdle (Springfield Armor – Massachusetts, D-League)  – Hurdle recently signed with the Armor. He has started two games, and played in three thus far, averaging 5.7 points per game, 2.3 rebounds per game and 1.7 assists per game. He is trying to help his team find their first win.

Reggie Johnson – Delaware 87ers – Delaware, D-League) – After being selected in the second round in the 2013 NBA D-League Draft, Johnson has played in all four games this season. His best game came in a loss against the Austin Toros, where he totaled 30 minutes, nine points and nine rebounds. He earns 22 minutes per game, 5.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.  

Trey McKinney-Jones (Fort Wayne Mad Ants – Indiana, D-League) – McKinney-Jones has played in four games so far, averaging 32.3 minutes, 13.8 points, and 2.0 steals per game. In the Mad Ants’ first win of the season against the Erie BayHawks, TMJ earned his most extensive playing time and showed up big, totaling 22 points and seven rebounds and three steals.

PROCANES AROUND THE WORLD:

Julian Gamble (St. Vallier Basket Drome – France) Throughout the season, Gamble has played in 17 games, averaging 28.6 minutes per game, averaging 16.6 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game, and 1.6 blocked shots per game. His best game of the season came in a dog-fight against Rouen, where he played 37 minutes, totaled 27 points, and 15 rebounds. He also had five steals in that game as well. Most recently, he was voted the Player of the Month Award in Pro B. 

Brian Asbury (Hapoel Holon – Israel) – Since the beginning of the year, Asbury has averaged 32 minutes per game and contributing with 14 points and seven rebounds per game. His best game came in a win against Netanya in November, where he totaled 19 points, 12 rebounds, and one assist. He is currently the highest scoring player on Hapoel Holon.

Anthony King (Artland Dragons – Germany) – King’s role has slowly been increasing throughout the six games he has played so far. With averages of 11.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, he is third on his team with points per game, and secnd on the team with rebounds per game. In the BBL Standings, Artland is currently in fourth place with an 8-3 record. 

Darius Rice (Hitachi Sun Rockers – Japan) – Rice has played in 18 games since the start of the year, and averages 25.3 minutes per game, 14.6 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game. His most impressive game in November came against Toshiba Brave Thunders, where Rice accumulated 26 points leading all players in that game, and a team-leading six rebound effort.

Durand Scott (Blusens Monbus Obradoiro CAB – Spain) – Scott is slowly trying to work his way into the starting lineup. He earns just about 15 minutes of playing time and 4.7 points per game. 

Adrian Thomas (Shimane Susanoo Magic – Japan) – As the team’s starting power forward, he averages 24.7 minutes per game, 8.9 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, and 1.3 assists per game. In the last three-game stretch, he has totaled 53 points, 24 rebounds, nine assists, and six steals. with an increased role, he’s making his presence felt.
