Four Named to ACC Academic Honor Roll

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Four members of the 2012-13 University of Miami women’s basketball team were named to the 57th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll.

The ACC announced Stefanie Yderstrom, Morgan Stroman, Shawnice Wilson and Jassany Williams as members of the Academic Honor Roll recognizing academic excellence by student-athletes during the 2012-13 year.

To be eligible, the student-athlete must participate in a varsity-level sport and register a 3.00 GPA or better during the entire academic year.

Yderstrom, a sport administration major, received the award for a third time, while Stroman, Wilson and Williams are all first time recipients.

Following her senior season, Yderstrom was named All-ACC First Team for the second consecutive year. The Östertälje, Sweden, native is currently fulfilling a sport administration internship program requirement.

Stroman, also an All-ACC First Team player, graduated in May with a degree in sport administration and recently signed a professional contract in Finland.

Wilson, who graduated with a degree in criminology, became the 11th player under Katie Meier to sign a professional contract when she signed with a team of the Spanish-LF2 last week.

A redshirt junior from Davie, Fla., Williams was named to the honor roll in her first year as a Hurricane. A transfer from Auburn, Williams spent the 2012-13 season rehabbing an Achilles’ injury.
