Kadji Added to Cavs Summer League Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami forward Kenny Kadji will get the opportunity to pursue his dream of an NBA career after the former Hurricane agreed to play in the NBA Summer League the Cleveland Cavaliers organization.

“Today Kenny Kadji was picked up by the Cavs as a free agent,” said Miami Coach Jim Larrañaga. “Kenny will impress a lot of scouts with his size, shooting ability and overall athleticism. I am confident he will be in the NBA this season. Dreams do come true at Miami.” 

In his second season at Miami, Kadji helped the Canes to the ACC regular season title and ACC tournament title, both firsts for the program. UM earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament and made a run into the Sweet 16. In two seasons with the Hurricanes, Kadji was selected Second Team All-ACC in 2013, Third Team All-ACC in 2012 and was named the 2011 Orange Bowl Basketball Classic Game MVP.

He averaged 12.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 68 total games. He made 47.9 percent (305-of-637) of his shots from the field, 37.3 percent (75-of-201) from 3-point arc and 64.9 percent (155-of-239) from the line. He knocked down a career-high 30 points against UNC Greensboro in 2012 and grabbed a career-best 14 rebounds at Georgia Tech in 2013.

The NBA Summer League will be held in Las Vegas, Nev., and run from July 12-22. Seven of the last eight NBA Rookie of the Year winners have participated in the league.
