James Jones Headed to NBA Finals

James Jones, a nine-year veteran out the University of Miami, is looking to win his second-straight NBA Championship in his third-straight appearance in the NBA Finals with the Miami Heat.

After spending four years at the University of Miami, Jones entered the NBA Draft in 2003 and was selected in the 2nd round as the 49th overall pick by the Indiana Pacers. Over the course of his 536-game career in the NBA, Jones has averaged 18.3 minutes per game and has been on the roster of four different NBA teams (the Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, and Miami Heat). Jones made his first NBA Finals appearance in the 2010-11 season with the Miami Heat and won his first NBA Championship after returning to the Finals the following year. He also won the 2011 Three-Point Shootout at All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. Jones is now playing in the NBA Finals for his third straight season and is seeking to win back-to-back rings.

While at the University of Miami, Jones averaged 17.5 ppg in 122 games. By the end of his four-year tenure at The U, Jones left his mark in the record books with a total of 1,384 points leaving him at 15th in all-time scoring in Canes history. Jones not only made an impact on the court, but also in the classroom after making his way onto the Big East Academic All-Star team all four years as a Hurricane as well as being voted a 2002-03 Verizon Academic All-American.
