DeQuan Jones – Orlando Magic
In 63 games for the Orlando Magic, including 17 starts, rookie DeQuan Jones averaged 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds while shooting 43.6 percent from the field in 12.7 minutes per game. He shot 66.7 percent from the free throw line. The Magic ended their 2012-2013 season with 20 wins and did not make the playoffs.
James Jones – Miami Heat
James Jones has come off the bench for the Miami Heat averaging 1.6 points, connecting on 30.2 percent of his shots from behind the arc. The nine-year veteran holds a 39.9 career 3-point shooting percentage, making 613 total. James and the Heat earned a few days of rest after sweeping the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs. The team will play again next week against the winner of the matchup between the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets.
John Salmons – Sacramento Kings
In his 72 starts in the 2012-2013 season, John Salmons averaged 8.8 points 2.7 rebounds and a team-high 3.0 assists for the Sacramento Kings. Salmons averaged 30 minutes per game, third most on the team. He connected on 39.9 percent of his shots from the field and 77.3 percent from the charity stripe.Salmons, 33, is the oldest player on the Kings and is also the highest paid player in the organization.
Adrian Thomas – Bakersfield Jam (NBDL)
After his brief stint with the Hamamatsu Phoenix in Japan, Adrian Thomas returned to the United States to play in the NBA Development League for the 2012-2013 season. In 30 games for the Bakerfield Jam last season, Thomas averaged 4.3 points and 1.7 rebounds while shooting 32.6 percent from the field. Thomas and the Bakersfield Jam lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Austin Toros.
Brian Asbury – Cajasol Banca Civica Sevilla (Spain)
Leading his team with 1 stealss a game; Brian Asbury is averaging 6.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 18 minutes of play for Cajasol in Spain. Playing in 31 games this season, Asbury is shooting 48.5 percent from inside the arc. Asbury is one of four Americans on Cajasol Sevilla, sharing the role with John Holland, Roderick Blakney, and Latavious Williams. Before playing for Cajasol Sevilla, Brian Asbury played in 24 Israeli League games from 2009-2012.
Lance Hurdle – Wollongong Hawks (Australia)
Playing in 15 games for the Wollongong Hawks in Australia, Lance Hurdle was his team’s second-leading scorer with 11.2 points and also grabbed 2.5 rebounds per contest. In 27.5 minutes of play, Hurdle made 38.6 of his shots with a 35.8 shooting percentage from behind the arc. Hurdle is also shot 75 percent from the line. One of the more experienced players on the Hawks, Lance spent three seasons competing in the NBA Development League before signing with the team. The Hawks’ season ended on March 31st with a post-season loss to Perth.
Malcolm Grant – Wollongong Hawks (Australia)
In 24.8 minutes for the Hawks, Malcolm Grant raked in 9.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists a game. In 13 games, Grant shot 46 percent from the inside the arc and 29.1 percent from beyond it, while connecting on 76 percent of his shots from the free throw line. Malcolm joined the Hawks in 2012, four months after his University of Miami teammate and friend Lance Hurdle signed with the team.
Anthony King – Artland Dragons (Germany)
Anthony King is grabbing 6.2 rebounds a game and shooting 51.9 percent from the field for the Artland Dragons. In 33 games, King is averaging 10.5 points and 0.6 steals in 24.6 minutes. The 6-9 big man is also shooting 80 percent from the line. King signed with the Dragons in 2011, and earned a contract extension for an extra season in July of 2012.
