MBB Earns No. 2 Seed in NCAA Championship
CORALGABLES, Fla. – ACCregular-season and tournament champion Miami Hurricanes earned the No. 2 seedin the East Region in the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.Miami is making its seventh NCAA tournament appearance in program history andonly the sixth in the modern tournament era.
Miami’sNo. 2 seed is tied for the highest in program history. The Canes were a No. 2seed in the East Region of the 1999 NCAA Championship. It’s only the third timein program history that the Canes are rated higher than a No. 6 seed (1999 -No. 2, 2002 – No. 6 and 2013 – No. 2).
Miami(27-6) will face No. 15 Pacific (22-12), the automatic qualifier from the BigWest Conference, on Friday at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. Tipoff is set for 2:10 p.m. on TNT. Should theCanes win, they will face the winner of No. 7 Illinois and No. 10 Colorado onSunday at the same venue.
