Williams Reaches Finals at NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Samantha Williams wrapped up her final indoor track season by reaching the finals at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Williams cleared a distance of 42′ 6.75″ to finish 9th in the women’s triple jump. The senior All-American was the second-best finisher from the ACC. Georgia Tech’s Julienne McKee placed 8th with a mark of 42′ 9.75″. Kansas’ Andrea Geubelle won the women’s triple jump with a mark of 46′ 6.25″.

“I am very proud to have represented the Canes this weekend,” Williams said. “I came so close, but I knew it gave it my best shot.”

Williams and the rest of Miami’s track and field program kick off their outdoor season with the Hurricane Invitational on Mar. 15-16. It is the first of three home meets Miami will host this season. The Miami Invitational on Mar. 23 and the Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Apr. 13 will also take place at Cobb Stadium on the University of Miami campus.

“I had an injury-free indoor season and set multiple personal records,” Williams said. “As I look towards outdoors, I trust that all my hard work wlll come to fruition according to God’s plan for me.”
