Akpejiori On All-ACC Academic Team

Miami junior Raphael Akpejiori has been named to the 2012-13 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men’s Basketball team, as announced by Commissioner John Swofford.

Akpejiori, from Lagos, Nigeria, is majoring in mechanical engineering at Miami. He has played in 57 games as a Hurricane, scoring 78 points and grabbing 82 rebounds. He has hit 46 percent of his shots for his career. 

Duke leads all schools with four selections, while Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech have two each. Boston College, Clemson, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina and Wake Forest are each represented by one player.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
