Green Out the BUC on Tuesday
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Universityof Miami men’s basketball fans are encouraged to wear green for theHurricanes’ Feb. 19 game against Virginia in an effort to “Green Out”the BankUnited Center.
The AthleticsDepartment has teamed with the university’s Energy and ConservationOrganization to help promote their first annual Recycle Madness event. RecycleMadness is a program geared towards increasing waste diversion at athleticevents and improving waste behavior in an effort to make Miami athletic eventsmore “green friendly”.
In addition toRecycle Madness, the first 1,000 students to enter the BankUnited Center willreceive a free “40 Minutes of L” t-shirt. All other fans can visit theofficial Miami Hurricanes online store to purchase green apparel for thenationally televised game on ESPNU.
“We are team and family oriented and anytime we cancollaborate with such a good cause, we want to do it,” said Coach JimLarranaga. “Keeping our planet safe is a really good cause. Our fanswearing green and supporting green efforts is great for everyone involved.”
The Hurricanes willalso host a “White Out” game against Georgia Tech on March 6.
