COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Miami Hurricanes capped off their weekend on the road with a second consecutive exhibition victory, taking down the homestanding Ohio State Buckeyes by a final score of 1-0.

Freshman Jasmine Paterson continued her impressive start to the season, netting what proved to be the gamewinner in the 47th minute. On a long ball played into the box from sophomore defender Maddie Simms, Paterson capitalized with a shot off a deflection that made its way inside the far post from 15 yards out.

“I give our women a lot of credit. We grinded itout and beat a very good Ohio State team today,” head coach Tom Anagnost said.

Both Paterson and sophomore Ashley Flinn had multiple chances that either deflected wide or just missed. Miami outshot Ohio State 14-10, while Emily Lillard managed to keep the Buckeyes off the board with a clean sheet. The sophomore transfer made three saves over 90 minutes of work.

“Today’s gameclearly showed us that there are many things we have to improve upon,” Anagnost added.
