Canes Receiving Votes in Preseason Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The University of Miami Hurricanes’ soccer team is receiving votes in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division I Preseason Top 25, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday.
Miami was one of 13 teams listedjust outside the NSCAA’s initial Top 25. The Hurricanes won their first NCAAChampionship game in program history with a double-sudden victory decision overvisiting Alabama at Cobb Stadium during the 2011 postseason.
The Atlantic Coast Conference waswell-represented in the rankings, with nine of 11 teams making the cut. Inaddition to the Hurricanes, the ACC placed Duke (No. 2), Wake Forest (No. 3),Florida State (No. 4), Virginia (No. 7), North Carolina (No. 8), Boston College(No. 11), Maryland (No. 13) and Virginia Tech (No. 22) in the NSCAA’s initialTop 25.
The Hurricanes open their 2012campaign on the road Fri., Aug. 10 at the University of Dayton. The Flyers arealso receiving votes in the initial NSCAA poll.
