CORAL GABLES, FL—The University of Miami Hurricanes returnedto practice today with a 90-minute session in pads at Greentree PracticeField on the Coral Gables campus. The Hurricanes have an open datethis weekend before traveling to Morgantown, WV, for an October 24th BIGEAST clash with the 15th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers.
“This open week comes at a good time for us,” commented coachButch Davis. “We have some players that are nicked up and need timeto heal. Beside giving us an opportunity to become healthy, it alsogive us a chance to work against ourselves in practice.”
The Hurricanes are scheduled to practice Thursday afternoon andFriday morning as there are no classes that day. UM will resume itstypical game-week routine Sunday, with practices next Tuesday, Wednesdayand Thursday.
UM fans wanting to get an inside look at the Hurricanes are encouragedto be a part of the studio audience for this week’s taping of the ButchDavis Television Show, and the live, weekly radio show “Hurricane Hotline.”
The Butch Davis Show, which airs every Saturday at 11:30 a.m.on WPLG Channel 10 and on SportsChannel, will be taped at Shula’s Steak2in Miami Lakes Thursday at noon.
Hurricane Hotline, a two-hour, weekly call-in show featuringDavis and athletic director Paul Dee is conducted on location at the LonghornSteakhouse, 1630 N.W. 87th Ave. (a.k.a. Galloway). The Hotline canbe heard on WINZ, 940 AM, Miami, every Thursday from 6-8 p.m.

INJURY REPORT: After practice Butch Davis announced the followinginjuries: wide receiver Santana Moss (abscessed wisdom tooth); cornerbacksLeonard Myers (right knee scope) and Nate Brooks (left ankle sprain); defensivetackle Clint Hurtt (MRI – right knee); offensive linemen Joaquin Gonzalez(right ankle sprain) and Robert Hall (left ankle sprain); fullback WillMcPartland (right wrist fracture); tight end Mondriel Fulcher (left hipflexor strain). Wide reciever Aaron Moser returned to practice aftersuffering a concussion in the Virginia Tech game on September 19th.Also returning was offensive lineman Eric Schnupp (off-season left kneeACL reconstruction) who worked out with the second-team offensive line.Defensive end Quincy Hipps sat out today’s session after undergoing hearttests on Monday.
