CORAL GABLES, Fla. — In preparation for their December 29th meetingwith North Carolina State in the Micron PC Bowl at Pro Player Stadium,the 24th-ranked University of Miami Hurricanes held a 90-minute workouttoday in shells at Greentree Practice Field.

“We are making good progress,” said coach Butch Davis. “We hada good practice today. I could sense that the players are lookingforward to having a couple days off. We will practice tomorrow morningand then they will be off until Wednesday afternoon.”

Center Ty Wise left practice early with a right ankle sprain.Wise twisted the ankle early in the session, but is expected back tomorrow.The Hurricanes will be playing in their 14th bowl since 1983, going7-6. All-time UM is 12-12 in bowl games. UM is playing in itssecond Micron PC Bowl, having defeated Virginia, 31-21, in the 1996 editionof the game when it was called the Carquest Bowl. That game was theonly other time since 1987 that the Canes have played an ACC team otherthan Florida State. Miami is 49-44-1 against teams from the AtlanticCoast Conference.
