CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami Hurricanes held a spiritedtwo-hour practice today in pads at Greentree Practice Field. UM (7-3,5-2) hosts third-ranked UCLA Bruins (10-0, 8-0) Saturday at 2:00 in theOrange Bowl.

“The players practiced very hard today,” commented coach ButchDavis. “Guys were flying around hitting each other and making plays.We are doing the things that you have to do to get ready to win.The enthusiasm is good. The focus has been good. Guys are watchingfilm. We’ll just have to wait and see if we come ready to play.Based on what I have seen thus far, I feel confident that we will lay itall on the line Saturday and give maximum effort.”

The Hurricanes have embraced the role of spoiler as UCLA headsinto the regular-season finale needing a victory to preserve its perfectrecord, extend its win streak to 21 games, and play in the Tostitos FiestaBowl on January 4 for the National Championship.

“At this stage of the season you play for a lot of things,” Davisadded. You play for pride. You play for your own personal integrity.You play for the seniors. Its their last game in the Orange Bowl.And for our football program, your playing on national television for everyoneto see.”

The ESPN College Game Day crew of Chris Fowler, Lee Corso andKirk Herbsteit will be broadcasting live from Touchdown Alley in the eastendzone of the Orange Bowl on Saturday from 11:00-12:00 Fans areencouraged to come out and be a part of the show’s live audience.Gates to Touchdown Alley open at 10 a.m.
