CORAL GABLES, Fla. – With the BIG EAST title on the line, the19th-ranked University of Miami Hurricanes concluded preparations forSaturday’s league showdown against No. 21 Syracuse with a 90-minuteworkout in shorts today at Greentree Practice Field. Both MiamiandSyracuse sit atop the conference standings with 5-1 records headingintothe final league game of the season.
“The hay is in the barn,”commented coach Butch Davis. “Thereis nothing left to do now but go play the game. We have had agood weekof practice. I have particularly liked our focus. We arewhere wehoped to be at this point of the season, heading into our lastconference game with a chance to win the title. I am confidentthesekids will be ready to play Saturday.”
The Hurricanes held a morningpractice after which the playerswere free to spend Thanksgiving afternoon with family and friends beforereconvening for evening team meetings.
The Canes depart for SyracuseFriday late-morning for Saturday’sgame in the Carrier Dome. The game will be televised live nationallyat3:30 on CBS.
All-time UM is 7-7 in indoorgames, including a 3-0 mark in theCarrier Dome.
