CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The 24th-ranked University of Miami Hurricanesheld their last practice today at Greentree Practice Field on the UM campusbefore taking a two-day Holiday break. Working out in shorts for75 minutes, the Hurricanes used the session to walk-thru special team situationsand work on their two-minute drill.
“Today was good in that it gave us an opportunity to walk-thrua practice and make sure everyone understands their assignments,” saidcaoch Butch Davis. “One of the goals this team set back in the off-seasonwas for our last game to be our best. We head into the Bowl gamewith 11 games under our belt. Now we need to combine everything wehave worked on through out the season and bring it together so that afterwe play this game we can look back and say it was our best of the season.”
Junior center Ty Wise returned to practice today. Wiseleft yesterday’s session early with a left ankle sprain. He is expectedto be in the starting lineup for the Micrcon PC Bowl.
The Hurricanes are off until Wednesday, December 23rd.The team will reconvene for a 2:00 practice at Greentree and then leavefor the Embassy Suites, Ft. Lauderdale, where they will stay during Bowlweek.
Bowl Week festivities begin Wednesday with a Welcome Receptionat 6 p.m. at Las Olas Riverfront. The event is free of charge andopen to the public.
The Hurricanes and North Carolina State Wolfpack meet in theMicron PC Bowl on December 29th at 7:30 at Pro Player Stadium. Gametickets are available through the UM ticket office. Tickets can bepurchased in person or by calling 1-800-GO-CANES. Fans are encouragedto support the Hurricanes and purchase tickets out of the school’s allotmentby going through the UM ticket office.
