CORAL GABLES, FL-The Universityof Miami Hurricanes displayed
their eagerness for Saturday’s BIG EAST showdown at 13th ranked West
Virginia (4-1, 1-0) with a spirited two-hour practice in pads todayat
Greentree Practice Field on the Coral Gables campus.
The Hurricanes (3-2, 1-1)are coming off an open week as they
prepare for the bulk of the conference schedule. UM plays itsnext five
games against BIG EAST opponents before concluding the regular season
with a non-conference clash against UCLA on December 5th.
“I was pleased with theintensity of today’s practice,” said
coach Butch Davis. “The players were focused and enthusiastic.After
an open week they are eager to play in a game.”
The Hurricanes face theBIG EAST’s top passing offense. West
Virginia averages a league-leading 285.4 yards a game through the air
and junior signal-caller Marc Bulger boasts a conference best 277.8
yards a game passing.
“This will be a good testfor our defense,” Davis said. “As a
group, their four receivers may be the best in the country. Our
defensive linemen will have to be able to pressure the quarterbackto
enable our DB’s to be effective.”
Saturday’s game kicks offin Morgantown, WV, at 3:30 under the
cameras of CBS Sports.
