CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The 22nd-rankedUniversity of Miami Hurricanespracticed in the rain for two hours today in pads at Greentree PracticeField. Accelerating their typical game-week practice schedule,theHurricanes combined aspects of their normal Wednesday and Thursdayroutines into today’s session. Miami (6-2, 4-1) plays Pittsburgh(2-7,0-5) Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Orange Bowl.

“We worked on the kickinggame for the first half of practicebefore turning attention to our normal Thursday routine for the secondhalf; working against our scout team offensive and defensive unitsas wefine tuned our game plan,” said coach Butch Davis. “It is nowabout 51hours from game-time, which is about where we would be after a Thursdaypractice. Tomorrow will be more of a walk-thru type practicefor about60 to 90 minutes, which is pretty typical of a Friday practice butalittle more intense.”

The Hurricanes are facingPittsburgh in a Thursday night,nationally televised ESPN game for the second time in as many years.Last year the Panthers knocked UM out of the national rankings witha21-17 upset win in Pittsburgh. UM will be playing on Thursdaynight forthe fourth time and third in the last three years. The Canesare 2-1all-time on Thursday night.

Day of game tickets can be purchased at theUMticket office until 4 p.m. and the Orange Bowl South Plaza beginningat4:00, and at all Plazas at 6:00. “Canes & You for $42” ticketpackages,including 5 general admission tickets, 5 game programs, and 5 softdrinks are also available in advance, or at the West Ticket Plaza oftheOrange Bowl on game day.
