CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The inauguralUniversity of Miami women’ssoccer team (7-4) will host Old Dominion (6-4) on Friday, October 9at 4p.m. at Gulliver Academy (12595 Red Road). The Hurricanes, underthedirection of Head Coach Jim Blankenship, have won four of their lastsixgames.

Old Dominion, ranked numbernine in the Mid-Atlantic Regional bySoccer Buzz, is seeking to snap a three-game losing streak. TheLadyMonarchs are led by strikers Jen Henley (six goals, two assists) andLauren Rafal (four goals, two assists).

Miami is led by center midfielderNina Wathne,midfielder/striker Kazmeen Moolchan and striker Jennifer Sanchez (Ft.Lauderdale, FL/MAST Academy).

Wathne, with a team-higheight assists and three goals, hasaccounted for 11 of Miami’s 22 goals this season. Six of Wathne’s eightassists have come over the last five games.

Moolchan, who can play eitherforward or midfielder, leads theHurricanes with six goals and is averaging one goal every 3.8 shots.

Sanchez, Miami’s inauguralsignee, has registered five goals andthree assists. She leads the team with 57 shots on goal.

Diedre Bass (Coral Springs, FL/Douglas HS) and Deirdre”Poppy” Foster (Davie, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas) anchor UM’s defense whichhas recorded three shutouts this season. Stopper Lene OstergardHansenis out with a dislocated left shoulder.

Following the Old Dominionmatch, Miami hosts Jacksonville onSaturday, October 17 at 1 p.m. at Gulliver Academy. Miami isplayingits home games at Gulliver until the completion of the Cobb StadiumforSoccer, Track and Field.
