Lauryn Williams Moves To Semifinals in 100 Meter Dash

EUGENE, Ore. – University of Miami alum Lauryn Williams registered an 11.22 time in the 100m dash to qualify for the semifinals of the event at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Friday on the campus of the University of Oregon. The sprinter finished second in heat five and ranked seventh overall out of 35 competitors.

Williams, one of 21 sprinters remaining, will next compete on Saturday at 6:40 p.m. (EST) in the semifinals. The top eight will qualify for the finals at 8:52 p.m. (EST). Live results can be found here.

A silver medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens in this event, she looks to qualify for the Games for the third consecutive time. Williams was a nine-time All-American during her collegiate career in Coral Gables.
