March 24, 2012
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 54 University of Miami men’s tennis team will host ACC opponent Wake Forest on Sun., March 25 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. The match will begin at Noon and is the second matchup between the Hurricanes and Demon Deacons this season.
Miami (7-6, 0-4) looks to finish up its current homestand with its second victory in the last three matches. The Hurricanes fell just short against No. 33 NC State as they lost in a tight 4-3 battle.
The Canes fought hard to get back into the match after losing the doubles point to the Wolfpack. Wilfredo Gonzalez, Diego Soto and Victor Mauz earned Miami’s three victories on the day as they split the singles matches with NC State.
Soto made quick work of his match as he defeated Julian Sullivan in straight sets 6-2 and 7-5. Mauz and Gonzalez each needed a third set as they defeated Rafael Paez and Robbie Mudge, respectively.
