CORAL GABLES, Fla.–This week, the University of Miami men’s and women’s track and field teams travel to Boston, Mass. for the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track Center on the Boston College campus. The Eagles will host the event for the first time in conference history.

The Hurricanes will look to produce quality performances to improve on their 10th and fifth-place finishes from last years’ ACC championships for the men and women, respectively.

The women will be led by reigning ACC 200-meter champion Tarika Williams in the 60 meters and 200 meters, Nicole Cummings in the long jump and pentathlon and the duo of Miranda Wilson and Ashley Holmes in the throwing events.

Williams is currently ranked third in the ACC in the 60 meters with a personal best time of 7.29, which she ran in winning the Virginia Tech Elite Meet. She is also ranked fourth in the 200 meters. Cummings is ranked fourth in the long jump with her 6.09m/19′ 11.75″ mark that bested the field at the prestigious Tyson Invitational. Wilson is ranked fourth in the weight throw and Holmes is ranked sixth in the shot put and seventh in the weight throw.

The men’s team will be led by two-time reigning ACC 60-meter hurdles champion Devon Hill. Hill won his second ACC title last year en route to his third-place All-American finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Fellow school record holders Connor Adams and Innocent Jacob will also look to secure points for the Hurricanes. Adams ran his school-record time of 4:11.91 in the one mile at the Virginia Tech Elite meet and Jacob registered his record mark of 2.08m/6′ 9.75″ at the Birmingham Invitational.

“The women’s sprints and the men’s hurdles are probably two of the stronger events in the ACC this year, so Tarika and Devon will face some stiff competition in defending their titles,” said Director of Track and Field and Head Coach Amy Deem. “Both of them seemed to have the championship mode turned on at practice this week, because they know they will have to run well to win again this year.”

Virginia Tech enters the men’s competition as the defending champion and Florida State has won eight of the last nine titles. Maryland leads the ACC with 26 overall in program history.

On the women’s side, third-ranked Clemson has won two consecutive titles and three overall. North Carolina’s women have won a conference-leading 15 championships.

Live streaming coverage of the three-day event will be available on theACC.com on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 12 p.m.
