Aug. 25, 2011
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s soccer team will be on the road this weekend for matchups against BYU and Utah Valley this Friday and Sunday.
The Canes (1-1) are coming off a 3-0 victory over Monmouth in their last match, where senior goalkeeper Vikki Alonzo extended her school record with her 25th career shutout and junior striker Kate Howarth scored a pair of goals.
The victory was also the first at Miami for new head coach Tom Anagnost.
Friday’s match-up will take place against BYU (1-0-1), who is coming off a 4-0 victory versus in-state rival Utah. It will be the second meeting all-time between the two programs, as the Cougars defeated the Canes at Cobb Stadium in 2008.
The Cougars will be led by 2010 All-America selection Lindsi Lisonbi. The junior is also a MAC Hermann Trophy candidate, which is given to the nation’s top soccer player.
The game will be played at 10 p.m. ET and can be viewed online by clicking here.
On Sunday, Miami will play Utah Valley (1-1) at 12 p.m. ET, in what will be the first-ever contest against an ACC program for Brent Anderson and the Wolverines.
The Canes will then return to Coral Gables on Sept. 4 to face Duquesne at 1 p.m.
The University of Miami is also excited to offer a new season ticket package that will include two (2) adult and (3) youth tickets to all home volleyball and soccer events in the 2011 season. The Family plan provides a family of five with over 20 events for the incredible price of $50. To purchase a Volleyball and Soccer Family Plan call 1-800-Go Canes or buy online.
