Canes Conclude Participation at Georgia Tech Fall Invite

Atlanta, Ga. – The University of Miami swimming & diving team concluded its three-day participation in the annual Georgia Tech Fall Invitational on Sunday, taking a fifth place overall after turning in several NCAA “B” cut performances inside the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. The Hurricanes ended the event with a score of 564.5 points.
Miami’s first event Sunday saw senior swimmer Roxanne Meyer take a seventh place finish in the 200 backstroke race, touching the time pad at 2:00.11. She went 2:01.39 in the preliminaries earlier in the day. Hannah Kling took first place in the “C” finals with a time of 2:04.31.
Kelsi Hall took seventh place in the 100 freestyle as she turned in a performance of 50.77, lowering her time from 50.84 in the prelims. Newcomer Celeste Degen went 52.40 in the “C” finals.
Senior Dana Hatic was sixth overall in the 200 breaststroke as she collected a time of 2:17.78, followed in eighth place by Hurricanes junior Christine Anderson with a time of 2:18.03. Junior Sofia Johansson was first in the “C” finals as she touched the wall in a mark of 2:20.71.
Another newcomer took a Top 10 time for the Canes in the swimming lanes later in the day as Lucy Worrall was sixth in the 200 butterfly event. Her time of 2:02.17 was a season-best time for the Hurricanes.
Over in the diving well, freshman Kara McCormack was sixth on the 10-meter platform with a total score of 250.35, followed in 11th place by Lindsay Lester with a score of 223.70.
The Hurricanes concluded the day in the 200 freestyle relay behind the team comprised of Kelsi Hall, Celeste Degen, Lucy Worrall and Hannah Kling. Together, they registered a time of 3:27.44 and a sixth place performance.
Miami is back in action Dec. 1-3 as the diving team, under the direction of head coach Randy Ableman, travels to the Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas.
